Mission Beach Year 'round activities |
Event Date: 2/19/2004 10:00 AM
End Date: 7/31/2004 12:00 AM
Mission Beach has people watching, surfing, body boarding, swimming, kayaking, sunbathing and picnicking. The boardwalk is wheelchair accessible and is a booming activity zone of bicycling, rollerblading, running, skateboarding, etc. Kids love the Mission Beach arcade with a merry-go-round, bumper boats and arcade games. This is next to the Big Dipper roller coaster. Younger children have a great time at Pirates Cove, and indoor play structure with numerous tubes, slides and rope bridges. All this is located within the arcade. There's even an indoor Olympic-sized swimming pool called "The Plunge" at the arcade. While in San Diego we recommend visiting the San Diego Zoo, Sea World and San Diego Wild Animal Park. You can explore the San Diego Zoo on foot or take advantage of the guided bus tour (additional charge) or a combination of both. They also have a Skyfari to enjoy an aerial view of the zoo and Balboa Park. Sea World has several aquatic shows. A "must see" is Shamu's Adventure. Other shows are Dolphin Discovery, Priates 4-D and Pet's Rule where cats, dogs and pigs get into the act. San Diego Wild Animal Park has an African Aviary. When you take the famous Wgasa Bush Railway you will observe giraffes, elephants, rhinos and hundreds of other animals freely roaming in herds over large areas of scenic natural habitat. You should reserve a full day for this adventure.
